Poster contest winners announced at music program July 19
An added attraction at Concord’s Thursday Night Music and Market program in Todos Santos Plaza on July 19 will be the judging of the “What’s Your Dream” poster contest, sponsored by the Human Relations Commission of Contra Costa County. The musical guest, taking the stage from 6:30 to 8 p.m., is country band The Bell Brothers. The farmers’ market is in the park from 4 to 8 p.m.
The annual “What’s Your Dream” poster contest is open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The theme was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous speech and is part of the county HRC’s on-going program to promote positive human relations in the county.
Over 80 entries from schools throughout the county will be judged by a team of local artists including Bill Carmel, Claudia Waldron, George Holmes and Raleen St. Smith. Posters will be judged on relevance of theme, concept conveyance, visual impact, creativity, and neatness. The top five winners will receive cash prizes and will be announced at approximately 7 p.m. from the stage by Contra Costa County District IV Supervisor Susan A. Bonilla.
Following the contest, the winning posters will be on display at the County Clerks office at 651 Pine Street in Martinez and at select libraries throughout the County.
