Public invited to attend August 4 Reuse Plan workshop
A public workshop with the Concord City Council will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 to discuss key alternative concepts for the Reuse Plan for the Concord Naval Weapons Station including land use intensity on the site, land uses and transit, open space and neighborhood buffering.
The key alternative concepts are based on input from public workshops held March 17, April 21 and June 16, and meetings of the Community Advisory Committee as well as technical information gathered by the Project Team.
The workshop will be held at the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be televised live on Concord’s cable TV channel (28 Comcast and 29 Astound).
The City Council, acting as the Local Reuse Authority (LRA) for the project, will hear a report from the Project Team, take public comment and provide direction to staff.
Input from this workshop will help direct the project team in defining a range of alternative concepts which will be presented to the City Council at its meeting on Tuesday, September 4 for consideration for inclusion in an Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
The City Council is scheduled to consider adoption of a single Reuse Plan alternative only after the EIR is completed in mid-2008. All alternatives will be analyzed to an equal level of detail in the EIR.
The Reuse Plan will include parks and open space as well as residential, public facility, business and retail elements that generate fiscal and financial stability and compliment the larger community.
For more information or to register for the workshop, visit the project Web site, www.concordreuseproject.org, or call the project hotline, (925) 671-3224.
