Ed James returns as interim City Manager

Retired Concord City Manager Ed James will return to his position with the city on an interim basis starting Monday, Dec. 3, 2007. He replaces former City Manager Lydia Du Borg, who resigned from the position effective Nov. 30. A national search is being conducted to permanently fill the position.

James retired from the City in March 2005 after more than 10 years as City Manager. In his decade as City Manager, he worked with the City Council to implement programs that resulted in greater financial stability, municipal accountability and responsiveness to the community.

Prior to coming to Concord, James was the Assistant City Manager (1989 to 1994) and Director of Public Works (1981-1989) for the city of Sunnyvale. During his career, he worked for several California cities, including Burbank, Los Angeles, Ontario and Pomona.
