Flags at half staff in honor of Concord soldier
The Concord flag will fly at half staff at city facilities on Monday, March 17, in memory of Army Sgt. Gabriel Guzman who lost his life March 8 in Afghanistan.
Sgt. Guzman, 25, attended Oak Grove Middle School and Concord High School. He also attended classes at Diablo Valley College before enlisting in the Army.
Sgt. Guzman was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Services will be held at Ouimet Brothers Concord Funeral Chapel on Clayton Road in Concord. A viewing is scheduled for Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. with the funeral on Monday morning at 10 a.m.
