Concord budget workshop set for May 5
The Concord City Council invites residents to attend the 2008 Budget Workshop on Monday evening, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1950 Parkside Dr.
The budget workshop is an opportunity for residents to hear about how budget priorities are decided and where resources may be allocated. The workshop includes presentations from the City Manager and city department heads about strategies to enhance the City’s fiscal stability.
Concord is one of the few cities in the state to practice Ten-Year Financial Planning. This valuable tool allows city officials to anticipate future budget impacts and plan early to undertake strategies that enhance the city’s ability to provide services to resident.
By city policy, the City Council must annually pass a balanced budget and Ten-Year Plan. Budget hearings will be held June 2 and 16. The city’s fiscal year runs from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.
The budget workshop and budget hearings will be televised live on Concord Cable TV channel 28 (Comcast) and 29 (Astound).
