Sewer project will result in Concord lane closure
Beginning the week of May 12 and continuing over the next six months, traffic on Meridian Park Boulevard in Concord near the main Post Office building north of Galaxy Way will be restricted to one lane in each direction while a contractor constructs a major sewer project.
The sewer project is a joint effort between the City of Concord and the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (CCCSD). As lead agency for the project, CCCSD has conducted extensive community outreach to the businesses in that area alerting them of the upcoming work. Outreach included letters to the nearby property owners, a public informational meeting in late February, and the installation of project informational signage at numerous locations in that area.
The project will extend CCCSD’s A-Line Relief Interceptor pipe and create a gravity-feed connection between the new line and Concord’s Sewage Pump Station. At the intersection of Meridian Park Boulevard and Galaxy Way, the city’s 72” diameter sewer pipe will connect to CCCSD’s 96” diameter pipe. A large “receiving pit” must be excavated at that location to receive the 96” and 72” diameter pipes and to construct a large underground vault to connect those two pipes together.
