Concord's DadDay in the Park features Dr. Loco, Best Dad contest winners


The City of Concord presents DadDay in the Park on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event takes place in Todos Santos Plaza in downtown Concord.

The free event includes the announcement of the winners in the Best Dad essay contest.

Musical guest is Dr. Loco's Rockin' Jalapeno Band. The band's complex sound has Tex/Mex roots with influences from Motown to Mariachi' and some Santana thrown for good measure. Musicians on drums, timbales, congas, bongo, trumpet, trombone, accordion, bass, guitar and keyboards back up Dr. Loco on sax and vocals. Based in the Bay Area, the band has recorded four CDs and performed all over the United States. José Cuéllar, a.k.a, Dr. Loco, is a professor of Raza (Mexican/American) Studies at San Francisco State University.

Todos Santos Plaza is located in downtown Concord on Willow Pass Road between Mt. Diablo and Grant streets. Free parking is available in the Todos Santos Parking Center on Salvio between Mt. Diablo Street and Concord Avenue and in the Salvio Street Garage on Salvio between Grant and Colfax streets.
