Concord Emergency Preparedness Fair Sept. 3

September is National Preparedness Month. Local residents will have the opportunity to pick up useful information from local emergency service organizations on Thursday, Sept. 3 at Concord's Emergency Preparedness Fair.

The fair is being held in conjunction with Concord's Thursday Music and Market program in Todos Santos Plaza. The Farmers' Market is in the plaza from 4 to 8 with musical guest Walking Spanish taking the stage at 6:30 p.m. In honor of National Preparedness Month, a special screening of the original 1936 earthquake movie "San Francisco" will be shown after the music.

The fair will feature representatives from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the American Red Cross, Contra Costa County Animal Services, the Salvation Army, Contra Costa County Public Health Division and the Mt. Diablo Amateur Radio Club. Demonstrations by citizen volunteers involved with Community Emergency Response Teams will be presented throughout the evening.
