Flags fly at half staff in honor of Concord soldier


Flags will fly at half staff at City facilities through Monday, Feb. 8 in memory of Pfc. Scott Garland Barnett, 24, who died Jan. 28 of injuries he suffered while supporting combat operations in Tallil, Iraq. Barnett joined the Army in 2009.

Pfc. Barnett attended Oak Grove Middle School, Concord High School and Olympic High School, and was an Eagle Scout. He is survived by his wife, Nikki; his mother, Lori Barnett of Concord; his father, Garland Barnett of Washington state; and his sister, Bekkie Barnett of Concord.

A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ouimet Brothers Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road. The funeral is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Church, 5522 Clayton Road.
