Camp Concord a go for this summer
Some confusion has arisen about the fate the Camp Concord, the City's residential summer camp program located at South Lake Tahoe.
A budget proposal to continue the Family Camp program but discontinue the Youth and Teen Camp program has some parents asking about this summer's program. The proposed change would not take effect until the summer of 2011, if it is approved by the City Council. This summer, all camp programs will continue as planned with a full compliment of camp counselors.
Youth and Teen Camp offers participants a week-long outdoor experience of traditional camping activities. Family Camp, on the other hand, offers families an opportunity to reserve a cabin at Camp Concord for any length of time.
Under the proposed scenario for 2011, Camp Concord would only offer Family Camp and group rentals. Due to City budget cuts, the more expensive Youth and Teen Camp program would be suspended.
