Concord celebrates National Night Out August 3

Several Concord neighborhood partnership organizations will participate in the 2010 National Night Out celebration on Tuesday evening, August 3.

National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is an opportunity for the Concord community to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative, police/community crime prevention efforts.

Concord's celebrations are modeled after old-fashioned ice cream socials, with neighbors coming together to reinforce a sense of community and recognize the importance that each resident plays in ensuring that neighborhoods remain free of crime. The celebrations are organized by the neighborhood residents or homeowner associations.

The Holbrook and Sun View Terrace neighborhood associations will join with the Todos Santos Business Association in a celebration during the Thursday Night Music and Market program at Todos Santos Plaza, on Willow Pass Road between Grant and Mt. Diablo streets. The public is invited to enjoy music by local blues vocalist Annie Sampson and DVC's Rock, Rhythm and Blues. Live music begins from the main stage starting at 6:30 p.m. The Farmers' Market will also be in the park, serving up fresh fruits and vegetables, from 4 to 8 p.m.

The celebration spills out to neighboring streets with more musical entertainment beginning at 8 p.m. in the courtyard of the Salvio Pacheco building at 2151 Salvio Street across from the plaza, and near the fountain at the corner of Salvio Street and Concord Avenue (near Skipolini's Pizza).
