Swim lessons open a lifetime of possibilities

Experts agree that starting swim lessons early in life provides children with skills that last a lifetime and could potentially save their lives. Concord Community Pool offers lessons all summer, in the morning, late afternoon and evening, Monday through Thursday, to accommodate a variety of schedules.

"Our hope is that every child in Concord will learn to swim," says Aquatics Coordinator Matt Galindo. "In addition to the safety factor, developing good water skills and confidence in the pool opens many doors for participation in water sports and activities such as playing on the inflatables during rec swim, going boating, water skiing or jet skiing, going on beach or resort holidays, pool parties, playing water polo, becoming a lifeguard, SCUBA diving, and/or swimming for health and exercise. All of these experiences require the ability to swim, and as your child gets older, they could find themselves excluded from such activities if they cannot swim."

Registration is still open for summer swim lessons for children as young as 10 months to adult. Private lessons, diving instruction and aquatic exercise classes are also available. Visit www.ConcordReg.org for more information.
