Concord Senior Center presents diversity workshop

The Concord Senior Center will host a diversity workshop on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The workshop supports individuals in learning basic LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and queer (or questioning)) terminology, understanding the needs and experiences of LGBTQ seniors, and forming a foundation for inclusion.

Presenters will provide common groundwork and language concepts for sexuality and gender identity, an understanding of the needs and experiences of LGBTQ seniors, and communicate the fundamentals of how individuals can be supportive of the LGBTQ community.

Presenters are from the Rainbow Community Center in Concord; the workshop will be videotaped and made available for new and existing staff and volunteers as part of the Senior Center's orientation program.

To register for the workshop, contact the Concord Senior Center at (925) 671-3320 ext. 1. The senior center is located at 2727 Parkside Circle in John Baldwin Park.
