Concord Reuse Project advisory committee interviews set

The Concord City Council is in the process of selecting an 11-member Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Concord Naval Weapons Station Reuse Project. Three alternates will also be selected.

The CAC will be an advisory body formed to provide input and encourage public participation during the development of a Specific Plan for the first phase of development of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station. Over 100 residents submitted applications. After reviewing the applications, each City Councilmember submitted the names of 11 applicants to the City Clerk. From that list, 21 applicants were selected for interviews on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The names of the candidates to be interviewed are: Jeff Allen, Niko Anagnostopoulo, Susan Angle, Philip Arnold, Russell Case, Wendy Crosetti, Jeanette Green, Susan Guest, Mark Harris, Claudia Hein, Charles Hoffman, Randall Horton, Jerome Hudson, Ajit Kaushal, Jill Newquist, Rosanne Nieto, Steve Older, Stuart Posselt, Paul Poston, Paul Sinz, and Darrin Walters.

The City Council will make the 11 appointments to the CAC and select the three alternates at a special City Council meeting set for Tuesday, Nov. 29.

CAC members will work with City staff and developer Lennar Concord LLC to apply the Reuse Project Goals and Guiding Principles, adopted Reuse Area Plan policies and accepted Term Sheet provisions in evaluating and commenting on potential Specific Plan alternatives or issues. The CAC will also serve as a communication link between the Reuse Project and the community at large by assisting in targeting outreach to neighborhoods and interest groups, and promoting participation at workshops and public meetings.
