Ribbon cuttings set for two new Concord playgrounds

The City of Concord will celebrate the grand opening of two new playgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 7. A ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m. at the new playground at Meadow Homes Park, 1351 Detroit Ave. Participants will then parade over to Ellis Lake Park, 1736 Clayton Rd., at approximately 10:40 a.m. with a ribbon cutting at the new Ellis Lake playground planned for 11:15 a.m.

Following the second ribbon cutting, participants are invited to stay for a celebration with face painting, arts and crafts and Zumba dance classes. Both playgrounds offer play areas suitable for children 2 to 5, and 5 to 12 with swing sets, which consistently rank as one of the most popular playground activities.

The new playground projects were funded by the City of Concord with Measure Q and Measure WW funds in response to the Monument Parks Assessment conducted by the Central County Regional Group, First 5 Contra Costa, Monument Impact and Contra Costa Health Services.
