Two study sessions planned on Reuse Project Specific Plan

Two study sessions will be held this month on the Specific Plan for the Reuse Project for the former Concord Naval Weapons Station. The Planning Commission will host the first study session on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The City Council study session will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11. Both sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Drive.

In 2012, the City Council adopted the Reuse Project Area Plan for the 5,000-acre base, reflecting several years of community visioning and planning. More than 65 percent of the project will become parks, playfields and open space. Over the next 25 years, the remaining area will be developed in phases. The Specific Plan process is geared to taking the next step toward development by providing additional details of the project including zoning and development standards such as setbacks and height requirements, street sections and a phasing plan.
