Praying mantis staring at you!Pesticides can be harmful to your family, pets, and garden. These chemicals contribute to toxicity in our water environment ecosystem. You can help reduce the risks of water pollution by using less pesticide and less toxic alternatives to pesticide.

The City of Concord has maintained an award-winning record of collecting and cleaning dirty water entering the sewer system from bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and garages. Increasingly stringent standards for water quality in the San Francisco Bay and Delta, along with advances in water quality testing, have highlighted an issue of toxicity from pesticides in treated wastewater.

According to the California Department of Pesticide Regulations records, California homeowners used one million pounds of diazinon in 1990. The schedule of free workshops is now available.
