These are some of the highlights and interpretations of the Concord Security Ordinance and not the entire text.

| 1. All exterior doors shall be 1-3/8" solid core. CMC 14-470 (a)(11) A(1)K, 14-471 (d). | ||
| 2. Panel doors are allowed if tested using ICBO Security Ordinance Standards or ASTM 476-84, Grade 40 minimum. | ||
| 3. Glass swing doors, glass in swing doors and glass adjacent to doors are allowed per CMC 14-470 (a)(a)(1)I only if alarm is installed. | ||
| a) Alarm shall activate upon opening of door. | ||
| b) Motion detection acceptable alternate at door location. | ||
| c) Motion detector required for solid glass doors or perimeter framed glass in door. | ||
| d) Buzzer, bell or other available device at exterior location a minimum of 10' above grade. Monitored central station recommended. | ||
| 4. Exterior glass not facing a public street shall have security bars, burglar-resistant glass, or alarm. See CMC 3929 B.1. Alarm can be exterior audible or central station. | ||
| 5. Alarms are required for the following types of businesses: | ||
| a) Silent Alarm - Central Station - Supervised Service: Jewelry stores, manufacturing, wholesale and retail; guns and ammunition; wholesale liquor; wholesale tobacco; wholesale drugs; and fur stores. | ||
| b) Silent Alarm - Non-Supervised, Monitored Elsewhere: Liquor stores; pawn shops; electronic equipment, including musical instrument stores; wig stores; clothing - new; coins and stamps; industrial tool supply houses, camera stores; precious metal storage facility; and drug stores. | ||
| c) Local Alarm - Bell or Horn Outside the Building: Antique dealers; art galleries; and service stations. | ||
| 6. 1" deadbolts are required for all doors. | ||
| 7. Double keyed deadbolts are prohibited. | ||
| 8. Deadbolts can have thumbturns or key-locking hardware at the main entrance/exit only with proper signage per UBC 3304© (Type B occupancies only). | ||
| 9. All exit doors other than the main exit/entrance shall have a single-lever action handle which disengages the latchset and 1" deadbolt. Panic hardware is recommended. | ||
| 10. "A" occupancies (theaters, large restaurants, etc.) are required >to have panic hardware with an occupant load over 50. |
