Program Description

Backyard Explorers is summer the way it was meant to be - with trees and a creek, areas to explore and friends to meet. The day camp is nestled in Markham Nature Park off Babel Lane and Cowell Road in Concord.

Children come back year after year for the exciting trips, games, nature, swimming, sports, songs, wildlife shows, outdoor cooking, special events and the camaraderie of other campers and great leaders. The programs are week-long throughout the summer with extended early morning and late afternoon hours for parents who need a day care alternative.

In addition, with every registration we guarantee a week packed with fun and adventure, including: creek side crawdad fishing; exciting games, arts and crafts, and cooking projects. Mini trips will be to local parks for BBQ’s, bowling, swimming, and Brenden Theaters. Some weeks will include Wildlife Shows, Mad Science Experiments, Magic Shows and a Backyard Carnival. All this plus adventure trips to places such as the Jelly Belly Factory, and the Exploratorium.

  • Fees*: $175 Res/$180 Non Res 5 Classes
    *$146 Res/$151 Non Res Jun 30–Jul 3 4 Classes
  • Regular Hours: Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (No program on Friday, July 4, 2008)
  • Extended hours: 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm (available at no extra charge)
  • Mini Trips/Swim Days: Will vary each week. A calendar will be given out on the Monday of each week.
