Recreation Classes for Teens

No excuses! You won't be bored if you take one of these great classes offered by Community & Recreation Services. Get your own copy of the Activity Guide by calling 671-3404 or check it out on the web at www.cityofconcord.org.


Teen Babysitter age 12-17  

Do you want to earn money babysitting? In this two-day class you will learn how to set up your babysitting jobs like a real business. Practice babycare with life-like newborn dolls. Learn how to bathe, diaper and dress infants. Be prepared for any emergency. You will get a CPR card and a KidSake Babysitters certificate that you can show to prospective employers.

Guitar age 13-17

Did you know that most popular songs have only 3 or 4 basic chords? Bring your own guitar (any kind) to this class where you will learn to play in a small group with no more than 5 students per class.



Drumming age 10-15

Feel the rhythm and pulse of percussion from around the world. In a few short lessons you will be able to play rhythms from Africa and the Middle East . Bring your own hand drum, if you have one. The instructor will also have some to share. You might even want to join the community drum circle where you can “jam” with other drummers just for fun.

Did you know that teens are welcome in some of our “adult” classes? Get a copy the Concord Parks and Recreation Activity Guide and check the age limits for Karate, Taekwondo, Belly dance, Pilates, Piano KeyBoarding, Women's Self-Defense, Kickboxing, Traffic School, Kung Fu, and Singing. We have hundreds of classes that you can take online, from the comfort of your own computer. You can choose from a wide variety of classes in web design, computer applications, entertainment careers, languages, digital photography, career development and more. Introduction to the Game Industry

Theme Park Engineering

Have you ever gone to a theme park and wondered How did they do that? This course will reveal all the secrets behind your favorite attractions.
