december 1, 2023

The striping contractor for Meadow Lane/Market Street Paving (City Project No. 2582) is planning to continue painting the new green bike lanes this Saturday, December 2. The proposed work will occur between Market Street and Belmont Road to Meadow Lane and Monument Boulevard. Construction hours for work within the roadway will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The striping work is the last piece of substantial work for the project. The contractor is anticipating completion of all striping along the corridor by the end of next week. 

NOVEMBER 28, 2023

The striping contractor, Sierra Traffic Markings Inc., completed the proposed layout for the new striping along the entire Market Street and Meadow Lane project limits. Last week they were able to begin painting some of the new crosswalks and lane markings throughout the corridor.

This week, they are planning to continue to paint markings and begin painting the proposed vehicle and bike lanes along the corridor. Ghilotti Bros., Inc., is also planning to begin installing new signage along the corridor.

NOVEMBER 15, 2023

Last week, the contractor was able to finish raising the utility manholes and valves along the corridor to the new asphalt surface. They also started laying out the new proposed striping between Market Street and Willow Pass Road to Meadow Lane and Monument Boulevard. 

They are planning to make the final adjustments to the striping layout this week. Once that is completed, they will be able to begin painting the new striping consisting of vehicle lanes, bicycle lanes, and crosswalks, weather permitting. 

NOVEMBER 6, 2023

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. completed pavement overlay operations last week for the entire project limits, from Market Street and Willow Pass Road to Meadow Lane and Monument Boulevard. They finished the pavement night work at the Market Street and Clayton Road intersection and State Route 242 ramp, which included grinding operations, dig out repairs, and overlay operations. The subcontractor, JCC, also started raising utility manholes and valves to the new pavement surface.

This week, the contractor is planning to finish raising utility manholes and valves to grade. They are also planning to begin laying out the new proposed striping for the entire corridor on the new paved surface.

November 1, 2023

Paving operations for Meadow Lane/Market Street Paving (City Project No. 2582) for the segment on Market Street between Willow Pass Road and Belmont Road will be performed at night.

Night work will begin on Wednesday, November 1 and is anticipated to last for a week. Construction hours will be from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night.

The intersection of Market Street and Clayton Road will be closed, which includes full ramp closures for the State Route 242 ramps. Detours will be in place while the ramps are closed. The Grant Street ramp can be used to exit north bound SR 242, and the Concord Avenue ramps can be used to enter SR 242.

OCTOBER 31, 2023

Last week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. continued with their pavement overlay operations throughout the Meadow Lane corridor. The contractor also completed the remainder of the pavement grinding and dig out repairs from Market Street and Belmont Road to Meadow Lane and Monument Boulevard.

Meanwhile, St. Francis Electric was able to successfully install the new cabinet at Meadow Lane and Sunshine Drive, and install the upgraded push buttons at Sunshine Drive and Robin Lane.

This week, the contractor is planning to complete the remainder of the pavement overlay along Meadow Lane. They will also begin to raise the utility manholes and valves to the new pavement surface.

They are anticipated to begin paving operations for the segment on Market Street between Willow Pass Road and Belmont Road as night work, beginning on Wednesday, November 1. Construction hours for this segment will be from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM each night.

The intersection of Market Street and Clayton Road will be closed, which includes full ramp closures for the State Route 242 ramps. Detours will be in place while the ramps are closed.


OCTOBER 24, 2023

Paving work for the Meadow Lane & Market Street Paving (City Project No. 2582) began on Monday, October 16. The contractor, Ghilotti Bros., was able to complete grinding on the south bound side of the street between Market Street and Belmont Road to Meadow Lane and Monument Boulevard. They also completed all of the dig out repairs in the south bound lanes and started the pavement overlay on Friday, October 20 near Monument Boulevard.

This week, the contractor has continued to install the pavement overlay in the south bound lanes and started grinding operations in the north bound lanes. Please be mindful of traffic delays when traveling through this corridor during construction hours.

OCTOBER 12, 2023

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. will begin paving operations on Monday, October 16. Night work at the Market Street and Clayton Road intersection, will no longer start on October 16 and will be performed at a later time. Instead, the contractor will be paving along Market Street and Meadow Lane between North Belmont Road and Monument Boulevard during typical day time construction hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Work will include pavement grinding, base repairs, and overlay along the corridor. 

Please be mindful of traffic delays if you are planning to use Market Street and Meadow Lane. One travel lane in each direction will be maintained for vehicles throughout the work period.

October 11, 2023

St. Francis Electric has been installing the new rectangular rapid-flashing beacons at the three new crossings along the Market Street and Meadow Lane corridor. The rectangular rapid-flashing beacons will be programmed for use once the project paving has been completed.

RRFB Installation near Mayette

Pavement work is scheduled to begin on October 16 and will last until the end of October. The limits of paving are from Market Street and Willow Pass Road to Meadow Lane and Monument Boulevard.

The first segment of paving will occur by the intersection of Market Street and Clayton Road, by the State Route 242 ramps. Paving operations for this portion of the work will occur at night and will last for five nights. The SR-242 ramps will be closed during this time and detours around the construction work area will be in place.

Following the intersection paving, the contractor will complete the remainder of the paving, working on one direction of lanes at a time. This portion of work will occur during normal day time working hours.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2023

Throughout last week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. worked on the median island on Clayton Road near the Market Street and Clayton Road intersection. They were adjusting the elevations of the median in anticipation of the regrading at the intersection that will occur during the upcoming paving operation. Meanwhile, their subcontractor, JCC Inc., began to lower utility valves and manholes along the corridor to prepare the road for paving.

This week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. is planning to complete the remainder of the median improvements and utility grade adjustments. In the second half of the week, they are planning to begin paving operations. Please be aware that there will be delays along this corridor for the next couple of weeks and try to take alternative routes if possible.


SEPTEMBER 5, 2023

Last week, the contractor, Ghilotti Bros., Inc., worked on patching the asphalt areas that were cut out to pour the new concrete gutters. Meanwhile, St. Francis Electric adjusted the communication box at Market Street and North Belmont. St. Francis Electric was also able to begin installing some of the rectangular rapid-flash beacon (RRFB) poles at some of the new pedestrian crossings along the corridor.

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. and St. Francis Electric are planning to start work on the concrete curb ramps near the 242 freeway ramps by Market Street and Clayton Road, including adjusting pull boxes and demolishing the existing curb ramps. St. Francis Electric will also continue to work on the installation of the RRFBs and speed feedback signs.


AUGUST 28, 2023

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. continued to work on the concrete improvements along the corridor last week. They were able to pour the new curb ramp on the east side of the Market Street midblock crossing. Other activities included patch paving along the newly poured gutters and utility potholes. St. Francis Electric was able to locate the portion of the conduit that was blocked. After it was repaired, the new fiber optic cable was pulled through the intersection.

This week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. is anticipated to work on the concrete curb ramps near the 242 freeway ramps at the intersection of Market Street and Clayton Road. St. Francis Electric will continue to install the rectangular rapid-flashing beacons and speed feedback signs throughout the corridor.



AUGUST 22, 2023

Last week Ghilotti Bros., Inc. worked on the curb ramps, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Their concrete improvements were primarily located at the Market Street midblock crossing, bike trail connection, and near the intersection of Meadow Lane and William Way. Meanwhile, St. Francis Electric installed the foundations for the rapid rectangular flashing beacons (RRFBs) and speed feedback signs. Their work consisted of excavating, installing rebar, and pouring concrete for the pole foundations.

The contractor is anticipated to begin working on the curb ramps near the 242 freeway ramps at the intersection of Market Street and Clayton Road later this week. They will begin with sawcutting and demolition, then will begin grading, forming, and pouring the concrete for the proposed curb ramps.

St. Francis Electric is planning to continue installing the RRFBs and speed feedback signs. They will also be repairing the conduit across Monument Boulevard, so the new fiber optic line can be pulled through to the cabinet on Monument Boulevard


AUGUST 15, 2023

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. worked on demolishing, forming, and pouring the proposed concrete curb ramps, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks throughout the project’s corridor, primarily between Sunshine Drive and Market Street. They were able to complete the sidewalk bike path entrance at the western end of Meadow Lane and worked on the storm drain inlets at William Way. St. Francis Electric was able to begin excavating and installing the rebar for the proposed rectangular rapid-flashing beacon foundations throughout the corridor.

This week, the contractor is planning to continue to work on their concrete improvements along Meadow Lane and Market Street, mainly focusing on improvements between Williams Way and Clayton Road. St. Francis Electric will continue to install the foundations for the rapid-flashing beacons and pedestrian push buttons.

August 7, 2023

Last week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. continued to construct the concrete curb ramps, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks along Meadow Lane and Market Street. This work included demolishing, forming, and pouring concrete improvements primarily between Sunshine Drive and Willow Pass Road. They were also able to form and pour the proposed storm drain inlets at William Way.

St. Francis Electric was able to pull in the proposed fiber optic cables in the newly installed conduit between Sunshine Drive and Monument Boulevard.

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. is planning to continue to construct their concrete improvements along Meadow Lane and Market Street, mostly between Belmont Road and Clayton Road. They will also be working on the bike path entrance near the south end of Market Street. St. Francis Electric is planning to continue to install the proposed fiber and will begin to install the rectangular rapid-flashing beacon foundations throughout the corridor.


July 31, 2023

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. continued to work on curb and gutter, sidewalk, and curb ramp concrete improvements, primarily working between Sunshine Drive and Market Street. This scope of work includes demolishing, forming, and pouring concrete.

This week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. is anticipated to continue to work on their concrete work, including ADA curb ramps, curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveways, and bulb-outs, mostly along the eastern side of Meadow Lane and Market Street. St. Francis Electric is planning to start pulling the fiber optic lines through the new conduit later this week. For your safety, please be mindful of any sidewalk closures and parking restrictions throughout the corridor.

July 24, 2023

Last week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. worked on concrete improvements along Meadow Lane, demolishing, forming, and pouring curbs, sidewalks, and ramps. They primarily worked along the eastern side of the street, pouring ramps between Riley Court and the new Mayette Avenue mid-block crossing. They also were able to construct the curb ramp improvements on the western side of the street at Mayette Avenue.

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. will continue to construct the concrete improvements throughout the upcoming week. They will begin working near Blackfield Drive and continuing north along Meadow Lane. St. Francis Electric will also be out in the field constructing new pull boxes and continuing their conduit placement.

July 17, 2023

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. continued to work on the proposed concrete improvements last week, which included curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and curb ramps throughout the corridor. They completed most of the concrete improvements along the western side of the street and have started on the improvements on the eastern side of the street, working to the north from Monument Boulevard along Meadow Lane.

This week they are planning to continue demolishing, forming, and pouring concrete along Meadow Lane, working to the north along the eastern side of the street, for the proposed concrete curb ramps, curbs, sidewalks, driveways, and proposed bulb-outs. Between Sunshine Drive and Monument Boulevard, St. Francis Electric is planning to continue with their conduit work and placing pull boxes.

July 10, 2023

Last week, Ghilotti Bros., Inc. continued to demolish, form, and pour the new concrete curbs, gutters, and curb ramps along Meadow Lane, completing most of the proposed curbs between Market Street and Mayette Avenue. They also continued with the storm drain installation near the intersection of Meadow Lane and William Way, completing the new pipe installation and backfilling the area. The electrical subcontractor, St. Francis Electric, continued to work on potholing and pull box installations between Sunshine Drive and Monument Boulevard.

Storm drain installation work, concrete demolition, ramp forming, ramp pouring, and pull box installations are all anticipated to continue throughout the corridor this week. Forming and pouring concrete is anticipated along Meadow Lane between Market Street and Riley Court. Please be attentive to any sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours along the corridor.

July 3, 2023

The demolition for proposed curb ramps and curb and gutter continued last week throughout the corridor. Ghilotti Bros., Inc. started to pour concrete for the the proposed curb ramp, curb, and gutter near the mid-block crossing on Market Street. They also started to work on the installation of the new storm drain inlets, manhole, and piping at the corner of Meadow Lane and William Way. 

St. Francis Electric continued with their boring operations for the fiber conduit installation and pull box installations between Sunshine drive and Monument Boulevard.

JUNE 27, 2023

Last week Ghilotti Bros., Inc., continued with their construction staking, potholing, and demolition of concrete for the proposed curb and gutter, curb ramps, and bulb-outs between Market Street and Sunshine Drive. St. Francis Electric continued to pothole for the proposed fiber conduit installation and started boring operations between Sunshine Drive and Robin Lane.

The contractor will begin to pour concrete for the proposed curb and gutter, curb ramps, and bulb-outs starting this week, and will continue with their demolition work between Market Street and Sunshine Drive. They will also continue to bore the fiber conduit and place pull boxes between Sunshine Drive and Monument Boulevard. Please be aware of any sidewalk closure signs throughout the corridor for these construction activities for your safety.

jUNE 19, 2023

Last week the contractor, Ghilotti Bros., Inc., started on their initial potholing work and construction staking for the proposed concrete improvements throughout the corridor. They also started to demolish some of the concrete at the proposed mid-block crossing on Market Street at the Corridor Trail. Their fiber subcontractor, St. Francis Electric, started potholing on Meadow Lane between Sunshine Drive and Monument Boulevard to prepare for the fiber conduit installation.

This week the contractor is planning to continue with potholing work, construction staking, and the demolition of concrete for the proposed bulb-outs. Demolition of a portion of the existing guardrail near the transition of Market Street and Meadow Lane is also anticipated.

MAY 30, 2023

The Contractor, Ghilotti Bros., Inc., for the Meadow Lane/Market Street Paving Project – City Project No. 2582 has been authorized to begin construction on Tuesday, May 30, 2023

The first order of work will be utility investigations and potholing. Potholing activities are expected along Meadow Lane from Sunshine Drive to Monument Boulevard to identify potential utility conflicts beneath the pavement for the proposed fiber optic conduit. Temporary traffic control will be in place during the specified lane closure hours of 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM

MAY 18, 2023

The Meadow Lane/Market Street Paving Project – City Project No. 2582, is expected to begin construction late May or early June, 2023. The project will involve pavement rehabilitation on Meadow Lane from Monument Boulevard to Market Street, and on Market Street from Meadow Lane to Willow Pass Road. Work will also include conduit/fiber installation, curb ramp upgrades, rectangular rapid-flashing beacon (RRFB) installations, speed radar installations, traffic striping and marking updates, and traffic signal equipment upgrades at various intersections.

The project is anticipated to be completed by October 2023, weather permitting.
