Fire Safety in Concord

Concord's fire safety services are handled by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, a well-equipped, full-service fire agency that provides fire and emergency medical services to nine cities in Contra Costa County. The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District also provides full service to business and industry, including several petroleum refineries and chemical manufacturing plants.

Mosquito Abatement/West Nile Virus Information

Mosquito and West Nile virus issues in Contra Costa County are handled by the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District, a public health agency established by Contra Costa County residents in 1927.

Facts about West Nile Virus in Concord

West Nile virus is a disease contracted by birds that is transmitted from bird to bird by mosquitoes. It can occasionally cause meningoencephalitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord) in susceptible people or animals that are bitten by infected mosquitoes. The program to protect residents from West Nile Virus is managed by the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District.
