The Animal Services Department has a long history in Contra Costa County. In 1959 Animal Control (as it was called then), consisting of five employees, was re-assigned from the Sheriff's Office authority to the County Agriculture Department. Animal Services became its own County department in 1985.
The City of Concord is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of life in the city. The Code Enforcement Unit works towards this goal by resolving blight, public nuisance and property maintenance problems.
The purpose of the Multi-Family Inspection Program is to ensure that every resident who resides in a Multi-Family community in Concord can feel safe about where they are living.
The Neighborhood Partnership Program recognizes there is strength in numbers and so promotes the growth and development of neighborhood associations.
