Day Trips

Day Trips are travel programs that don't require an overnight stay. Payment must be made in full at the time of registration. Most of our travel programs feature roundtrip transportation for Day Trips from the Concord Senior Center will be provided on a luxury motor coach. The motor coach may be wheelchair-accessible and will feature a restroom on board. Please inform the Program Coordinator to confirm availability of wheelchair seating on any of our trips. Please plan to park in the East parking lot (2nd parking lot) at the Concord Senior Center.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Read the descriptions of the travel program. Determine if the mobility rating is appropriate for your physical fitness level and health.

  • Level 1: At a leisurely pace, this trip involves minimal physical activity, such as boarding a motor coach, light walking (only up to a few city blocks), and short periods of standing. This level would be wheelchair, cane, and walker accessible.
  • Level 2: This trip may require some periods of standing and light walking along stairs, inclines, and uneven surfaces. This trip would likely not be accessible for wheelchairs, canes, or walkers.
  • Level 3: This trip may require substantial periods of walking and standing, sometimes on uneven terrain or stairs. This trip would not be accessible for wheelchairs, canes, or walkers.

3 Ways to Register for Day Trips:

  1. Online: Click on the TITLE of the trip you'd like to attend to register. You will need to create an account on our registration site if you do not already have one.
  2. By-Phone (M-F, 9:00 am- 4:00 pm): Call the Concord Senior Center at 925-671-3320.
  3. In-Person: Visit any one of our community centers to register and pay in person:
    • Concord Senior Citizens Center (M-F, 9am-4pm)
    • Centre Concord (M-F, 10am-12pm & 1-3pm)
    • Willow Pass Center (M-F, 10am-12pm & 1-3pm)

SOLD OUT & WAITLIST

If a trip is sold out, a wait list will be formed. If there is a cancellation request from a passenger, Recreation Services staff will contact interested travelers from the wait list on a first-come, first-served basis with more information on how to register for the available seat.

TRIP MINIMUMS

Trips may need to be canceled up to 30 days in advance if minimums are not met. Help us spread the word about upcoming trips to avoid potential cancellations.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

As a result of the passenger minimums and advance payments, refunds will not be permitted within 30 days of a day trip. Refunds must be requested at least 30 days before a trip departure date. Refunds will be subject to a $5 cancellation fee. Trips are rain or shine.

A cancellation request submitted to the Program Coordinator within 30 days of a day trip are reviewed in chronological order and handled on a case-by-case basis. Only if a cancellation is successfully replaced with a new passenger from the wait list, then the cancellation and refund request may be permitted with a $5 withdrawal fee.

SACRED PLACES OF SAN FRANCISCO WITH CRAIG SMITH

What better way to learn about San Francisco’s diverse Sacred Places of worship than a guided tour with Craig smith? You will have time to visit the beautiful St. Dominic's Cathedral, featuring a beautiful shrine to St. Jude. Stop for a private docent tour of the remarkable Swedenborgian Church, with it’s the unique natural wood architecture and serene garden setting, it has attracted many creative devotees.

Mid-day you will stop to enjoy a delicious hosted lunch at The Presidio Cafe. The afternoon will offer a visit to St. Peter and Paul Church dating back to 1922. Your day will continue with a tour of the grand neo-Gothic Church Grace Cathedral, the largest Episcopal Church on the West Coast of North America. This trip is for those of all religions, the open minded, and those with a natural curiosity to explore the world around them. Everyone is welcome.

Tour includes: Luxury Motorcoach, Driver Gratuity, Private Tour Guide Craig Smith, Tour of St. Dominic's Catholic Church featuring the Shrine of St. Jude, Tour and Educational talk at Swedenborgian Church a non-denominational church that many famous writers are members of with Nordic style architecture, Lunch at the Presidio Café w/ dessert, soft drink, and choice of entrée Chicken Cobb, Burger, or ½ Club Sandwich, Tour of St. Peter & Paul Church located in North Beach with rich Italian history, ending your day with a tour of Grace Cathedral home of spectacular stained glass and museum style exhibits.


Mobility Rating: Level 2: This features walking tours, and you will have to walk from the bus to where the tour begins. Tours will run 30-40 minutes, you may sit in the church pews at each location. Swedenborgian Church will be a sit down presentation.

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS GAME: SUNDAY, APRIL 7, 2:30 PM - 8:00 PM

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS VS UTAH JAZZ GAME

Join us on a fun outing to see the Golden State Warriors play the Utah Jazz at the Chase Center. Seating is located in the Bridge Section - Great seats right behind HOME basket! This section has more leg room, table in front of you & pull-out chair. They are close to restrooms, with a concession stand/bar directly behind the seats. You will arrive by 4pm to the Chase Center, you will have 1 hour & 30 minutes to get settled, game begins at 5:30pm. There are many other food options at the Chase Center, including: Sam's Chowder House, Sadie's Deli, Bake sale Betty, Big Nate's BBQ, & MORE!

Walking Level 2: Medium - Bus will drop off directly outside of the Chase Center, you will have to walk from drop-off to security gate, and then to your seats, but the Center has many elevators and escalators for use. All bags are subject to search.

Price includes: Bridge section group seating, luxury Motorcoach transportation from the Concord Senior Center, and driver gratuity.

CAMP CONCORD FAB WEEK

Enjoy a week of vacation in South Lake Tahoe with a stay to Camp Concord. Camp Concord is the perfect setting for a relaxing and/or adventurous vacation - your choice! FAB Week is a week dedicated to older adults, with activities planned specifically to meet the needs and interests of older adults 50 and better! 


This trip is offered in partnership with the City of Martinez's Community and Recreation Services Department! Enrollment may be completed either with the Martinez Senior Center or the Concord Senior Center.

Included in trip: roundtrip luxury transportation from either the Martinez Senior Center or the Concord Senior Center, 4 days and 3 nights of lodging in cabins at Camp Concord in South Lake Tahoe, 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), daily social activities (bingo, nature walks, campfires, dances, game nights, and more!), van transport to local attractions around South Lake Tahoe, and a full week packed with fun and scenic views!

Extended Travel programs require overnight stays while traveling domestically or internationally. A booklet may be picked up at the Concord Senior Center with registration details and full itineraries for each destination.
