Don’t let fireworks ruin this Independence Day! On July 1, the Concord Police Department along with other local law enforcement agencies, joined the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District to remind everyone that fireworks of any kind are NOT permitted this 4th of July - or ever. All fireworks are illegal in Concord and throughout Contra Costa County.
Firefighters led a demonstration that showed how much damage fireworks can cause. Sparklers were used to light debris in the gutter of a prop roof. Within just three minutes, flames spread throughout the roof. All fireworks, even the small and more common or the ones labeled “Safe & Sane” are dangerous and illegal.
Over 4th of July weekend, the Concord Police Department will have officers dedicated to the education and enforcement of fireworks violations. Let’s work together to keep our community safe. To report fireworks violations, please call our non-emergency number (925) 671-3333 and provide our dispatchers with an address where the violation occurred.
