The Concord Police Department is hosting a series of virtual neighborhood meetings regarding the potential creation of a Public Safety Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) program, and they are seeking input from the Concord community.

Small, remotely operated UAS, also commonly referred to as “drones,” have successfully been implemented in public safety agencies across the country, and these programs have proven to be an efficient and effective tool used to enhance first-responder services to a community.

Several first-responder agencies in Contra Costa County have proven UAS programs in place, and the Concord Police Department is looking forward to hearing from community members as the department explores the development options for Concord's own UAS program.

Each meeting is being organized by neighborhood group. The schedule is:

Monday, May 10: Neighborhood groups: Baldwin Park, Bonifacio/Salvio, East Sun Terrace, Holbrook Heights, Mt Diablo, North Todos Santos, Olivera/Huron, Reitz, and Sun Terrace.
(Please Note: This meeting has been completed, but interested residents are encouraged to contact Lt. Nick Gartner for additional information. Residents of these neighborhoods are also welcome to join another meeting listed below. )

Tuesday, May 11, 6-7:30 p.m.: Neighborhood groups: Dana Estates, East Concord, Monte Gardens, San Vincente, and Silverwood.

Monday, May 17, 6-7:30 p.m.: Neighborhood groups: Colony Park, Fair Oaks, Oak Grove, Del Rio, Tree Garden/Mohr, Orchard, Lyon Circle, Ryan, Ygnacio, Sierra, Via Montanas/Navaronne, San Miguel, Detroit Ave, Concord Mobile Home Park, Town & Country, Tioga, Sunny Acres, and Lime Ridge.

Tuesday, May 18, 6-7:30 p.m.: Neighborhood groups: Cambridge Park, Meadow Homes, Ellis Lake, Brookview Manor, Camara, Castilian, Oak Terrace Concord, Monument Blvd, Concord Park, Willow Pass Rd, Park N Shop, and Broadway.
