[ARCHIVED] Free Vaccines Through Mobile Clinic Aug. 19

The City of Concord has partnered with Contra Costa Health Services and Brenden Theatres to bring an on-site COVID-19 vaccination service to Todos Santos Plaza on Thursday, August 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the City’s Music & Market concert series.

Everyone who receives their vaccination at the mobile clinic on August 19 will also be given one free movie ticket courtesy of Brenden Theatres.

“I’m grateful that a beloved Concord event such as Music & Market can play a role in helping to keep our community safe by being a destination for residents and visitors to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine," said Mayor Tim McGallian. “I encourage all of our residents to come down to Concord’s living room and enjoy the music and the farmers’ market, and please get vaccinated!”

Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson brands will both be available for the first dose. Moderna will also be available for people in need of their second dose. Participants do not need to be Contra Costa residents. Appointments are not required, and advance sign-ups will not be available.

“Our mobile vaccination program makes the COVID-19 vaccines more accessible than ever before. I am thrilled to team up with the City of Concord to provide more opportunities for vaccination,” said Contra Costa County Supervisor Karen Mitchoff, whose district includes Concord. “I want to see every eligible resident in Contra Costa County get vaccinated.”

Music & Market is a Concord tradition enjoyed by thousands of people each summer who come from all over the East Bay to experience live music by local bands and pick up farm-fresh produce at the farmers’ market.

On August 19, The 925 Band will be performing hit songs ranging from the 1970s to the 2000s.

The Music & Market series runs every Thursday until September 30 at Todos Santos Plaza at the corner of Willow Pass Road and Grant Street in downtown Concord. Parking is free. The farmers’ market opens at 4 p.m., and concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.  Local health officials recommend wearing a face covering outdoors in crowded settings, especially for those who are unvaccinated.

The City of Concord thanks its August 19 event sponsor, Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery, for supporting this concert and its community partners, Contra Costa Health Services and Brenden Theatres, for making vaccinations during Music & Market possible.
