On Sept. 14, Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) announced a new temporary health order designed to protect residents from the highly infectious delta variant strain of COVID-19.
"To save lives, prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed and keep schools open, we must do all we can now to prevent another surge in cases this winter," health officials said.
As of Sept. 22, 2021, everyone 12 years and older must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative test result, before going to high-risk indoor businesses in Contra Costa County. Workers at these businesses must be fully vaccinated or test weekly, starting Nov. 1, 2021.
