The City of Concord’s Transportation Division is seeking community input on the first phase of its Complete Streets Feasibility Study. Working with Alta Planning + Design, the City’s transportation planners launched an online platform to solicit feedback and gather data. In addition to conducting interviews with community stakeholders, the study team invites all residents to share their ideas through an input map, which is located at https://concord.altaplanning.cloud.
The scope of the Complete Streets Study includes Cowell Road from Ygnacio Valley Road to Galindo Street, Willow Pass Road from Ashdale Drive to Market Street, and Galindo Street between Cowell Road and Willow Pass Road. The purpose of the study is to develop design concepts for the three streets with the goal of improving comfort and safety for all users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, transit users, and vehicles.
During the “information gathering” phase, people are encouraged to share their thoughts about how they currently use or would like to use the roadways. Participants can utilize the website’s buttons to provide feedback on destinations they would like to bike or walk to, routes that function well or need improvement, and barriers to biking or walking.
During phase two of this project, which kicks off on April 23, members of the community will be invited to participate in Design Labs to learn more about the project and to evaluate possible roadway alternatives. These labs are interactive workshops where participants can collaborate together with the study team in developing alternative designs for each of the roads.
